You’ve selected the framing system now…
What tools do I need to assemble MFS systems?
You can get started with basic tools. Chances are that you already have everything on-hand:
- Hammer with plastic head
- Drill with bits
- Self-drilling screws
- Rivets
- Standard chop saw with a non-ferrous metal cutting blade if you prefer to do your own cutting
- Modular Framing Systems offers cutting and kitting services which allows customers to receive components ready for assembly right out of the box
How do I assemble the frame?
STEP 1
Select the cut length of choice and insert corners into each end. Align the corners straight in relation to the profiles, and make sure these pieces are the same length. Using a plastic headed mallet, hammer the corners into the profiles until the male portion is no longer visible. HINT: The metal-to-metal fit is tight so it requires a bit of force to knock the corner in. Apply a little WD40 or soapy water to the corner leg to serve as a temporary lubricant.

STEP 2
Select the second cut length of choice and insert corners into each end of the profiles to form a square/rectangular frame. Using a plastic headed mallet, hammer the corners into the profiles until the male portion is no longer visible.

STEP 3
Repeat that process to make your top and bottom frames.

STEP 4
Add your last set of cut lengths and align all corner joints with corresponding profiles.

STEP 5
Using a plastic headed mallet, hammer the corners into the profiles until the male portion is no longer visible.

STEP 6
Align the end caps for the intermediate support(s) and insert them into each end of the profile. Using a plastic headed mallet, hammer the end caps into the profiles until the male portion is no longer visible.

STEP 7
Place the intermediate support at the desired location and secure it to the perimeter frame using a self-drilling screw or rivet. Drill through the flange of the perimeter profile and into the end cap of the intermediate support. HINT: Drill a pilot hole with a 1/8″ drill bit first.
